Welcome to my "Florida" blog

Being a third generation Florida native, I'm completely enamored with the diverse beauty of this gorgeous peninsula. For most of the year the weather is divine which makes exploring its unlimited nooks and crannies fun and easy.

Wherever I go I appreciate nature and the world around me. Come along with me as I share the places I visit and perhaps a few other amusements I find interesting along the way.

Where Am I?

For all you Florida enthusiast and even those who have an occasional interest in my beautiful state...
I thought it would might be fun to occasionally post some of the random photos I've taken from my romp abouts in Florida and let you guess where I was when I took the photo... or where the scene is that the photo represents (whichever applies).
If you'd like to include your thoughts (experience) on the photo or the area it represents I'd love to hear about that, too.
I'm starting with an easy one.

Depending on when you took this photo, it may not be so easy, but my guess is Jacksonville - maybe at Mayport.

When my husband and I were first married, he was in the Navy, stationed at Cecil Field, and twice I kissed him goodbye and welcomed him home from the waterfront at Mayport when his squadron was stationed on the Navy aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Roosevelt.

The first time his ship returned, the waterfront was decorated with a Christmas tree and a sign that said, "It's Christmas in July when the Roosevelt Comes Home."

That is a great story. Tell your dear husband thanks for his service!!!! Love the sign the ship sported.

This is going to be more fun than I thought... well, at least for me.

hint: I took the photo in January of this year. It isn't Mayport or Jacksonville although I DO have some photos from Jax... you're giving me good ideas.

Thanks for guessing!!!!

My first thought was the north end of the Sunshine Skyway. Maybe coz the SS has been on my mind this week. 8-} Oh, wait! They're not real! LOL! OH! OK, I know now... MJ? Slightly south of the skyway.

I'm not sure what MJ stands for but I will tell you this--the scene is definitely south of the SS.

MJ is Marina Jack's in Sarasota... where the famous LIFE photo statue is back. OK, that sentence would probably make my English teacher cringe, but... 8-}

Hope you're having a blessed Easter weekend!

Sophie... you knew all along! Great job. I thought if anyone had ever seen it they would know right off the bat. I took my photo driving by- it's not great. I'll post an update to the blog post with a better photo I found on the Interet.
Thanks for humoring me.

Until you Sophie guessed, I didn't even notice that it was a statue! LOL

We go through Sarasota all the time. I can't believe I haven't seen this before. I guess it's time we take another trip. =)
