Welcome to my "Florida" blog

Being a third generation Florida native, I'm completely enamored with the diverse beauty of this gorgeous peninsula. For most of the year the weather is divine which makes exploring its unlimited nooks and crannies fun and easy.

Wherever I go I appreciate nature and the world around me. Come along with me as I share the places I visit and perhaps a few other amusements I find interesting along the way.

Beach Scenes from Longboat Key

My sister and I are back home today after a splendid five days of relaxation, sunshine, endless chatting, long walks, good food and glorious sleep. We were staying at a small inn on Longboat Key, FL.

You might want to pour yourself a cup of piping hot coffee or maybe a good glass of iced tea. I'm giving you fair warning now I couldn't quit snapping photos of so many tropical flowers and lush beach foliage. So... brace yourself for image overload.

The Inn...

The Beach...

Sandwich Tern

Royal Tern ( I think???)

So much beauty to breathe in each day. Thanks for coming by to see it with us.

Loved all of those pictures, but the sky at the end was amazing! I would also like to know the name of the Inn :)

Chris,
Thanks for enjoying them with me. I can take enough beach photos... or see enough... or be there enough... I think we are in the same place in our hearts about beaches. :-)

JG,
You are sweet to come by and take a look... thanks for letting me know. Hugs.

Cydney,
So glad you want to check it out. You will love it. Please e-mail me and I will happily give you the name. hoe and shovel garden at gmail dot com

nanmoo,
Thanks. The sky was not lit up with oranges and picks that night but nonetheless marvelous with many cloud forms and deep colors. I will gladly e-mail you with the name of the inn. This might be just the place for you!

I know now why you say this is one of the best places to visit in Florida. I love the vegetation... It's amazing!!!!!

A place like this is so much nicer than a place like Daytona Beach--where there are no trees or flowers.

WOW--Meems, I know that you and Marmee had a wonderful time. How SPECIAL.

Hugs,
Betsy

Vicki,
Thanks so much for stopping by and I'm glad you liked the pics. My sister and I really had a blast together... no schedules, no demands... just us.

Betsy,
I couldn't agree more... this coast is so much prettier to me. That's not to say there aren't places I love over there on the East Coast... it's just this is my favorite.

It was so good to share some unbroken time with Marmee. Her life is full of kiddos (and animals for that matter) usually so it was especially nice for her.

You now have two great blogs Meems! I am putting Longboat Key on my next get away list. Your pictures are beautiful as usual. I wish I could grow coconut palms here. Were those Bauhinia trees? Just beautiful.

marmee,
Sweet times turned into memories already. And still not enough days to fit in all of our grand plans. Someday...

Florida Sue,
If you love the beach you just HAVE to visit LBK.
Bougainvillea were growing all over the arbors - is that what you are asking? No orchid trees that I saw.

Oh So beautiful. I can practically see myself in almost every spot.
I am so glad it was wonderful for you. Let me know when you are regrouped!

Pat,
We picked a perfect week to go weather-wise. It was so pretty everyday. I do love this place and it had been a few years since I had stayed there. All the foliage and flowers are really stunning... as you well know.
